and pubs. They can also play for folk
dances and ceilidhs with the all-important ‘caller’ For public houses restaurants and small venues all
equipment (PA, speakers etc.) can be supplied. All the band need is good access by car, space to perform in
and a power point. Outdoor venues would need to be undercover for
protection from weather, and power supplied. At larger venues where a PA system is supplied, 2
x vocal microphones on boom stands and 2 x D.I. are required. Acoustic sets are available for very small venues.
The band does a very good wedding party package -
contact Pete for details.
Festival Package Pete Fyfe and Garry Blakeley have provided goodtime sea songs
and Celtic music for many years. In that time, they have featured as
regular musicians on board HMS Warrior in In addition to their gigs as a duo, BAND OF TWO also
work regularly alongside ex-Navy mate SHEP WOOLLEY as the ‘ANDSOME CABIN
BUOYS – laughing in the face of the Trade Descriptions Act! MICK SCOTT has been a children’s entertainer for over 10
years in which time he has gained an enviable reputation with his sea-based
show “Captain Kipper, skipper of the clipper Flipper” and is also the
‘caller’ for folk dances with Band Of Two. Following many years of festival performances the
artists offer a full package (12 noon to 6pm) that includes not only sea
shanties/songs and tunes but a ‘family’ based entertainment show with
music, jigs and reels, rock-a-billy, skiffle, rock ‘n’ roll and even some
Beatles songs for good measure. Now, you may question that sea shanties and The Beatles
are strange bedfellows but when catering for an audience ranging from 8-80
then (as performers) you have to cast your net further afield. Whilst the sea shanties are treated with
respect (featuring all four vocalists) the emphasis is on ‘entertaining’
the audience. Shep comes from the same school as Billy Connolly and Jasper
Carrott and Pete’s whimsical introductions have gained him a reputation as
a poor man’s Tommy Cooper – and trust me, he really is that poor! In
addition, both Pete and Garry are admired by their peers as exceptional
musicians on their featured instruments (fiddle & tenor banjo) having
performed alongside Fairport Convention, Peter Knight (Steeleye Span) and
Phil Beer (Show Of Hands). Individual performances for the day are broken up as
follows: BAND OF TWO – Goodtime Celtic songs and tunes SHEP WOOLLEY– Various styles of songs and comedy ‘ANDSOME CABIN BUOYS – Shanties and songs of the sea SHEP WOOLLEY BAND – Rock ‘n’ Roll, Folk, Skiffle etc MICK SCOTT – Children’s Entertainer who will also ‘call’
the folk dance A selection of the material demonstrates the artists
versatility: We Are Sailing,
Drunken Sailor, Down By The Dockyard Wall, Those Were The Days, Wild Rover,
Duelling Banjos, Route 66, Captain Pugwash, Under The Boardwalk, All members of the ensemble have over 30 years
experience – and it shows! Whether performing in front of thousands from
main stage at the Cambridge & Fairport Festivals or a passing audience,
a good time is guaranteed and you’ll find no other act more passionate in
their aim to ‘entertain’. Contact Pete for current fees. The package is typically for a 6-hour day. Transport costs
and overnight accommodation may be required. The group would also require light refreshments (tea, coffee
& sandwiches) throughout the day.
We provide a minimal PA system (if required) and CD music for the
intervals.
